After studying photography at West Bromwich College, I worked in a busy commercial studio in the West Midlands for nine years. I subsequently concentrated on my other main interest, nature conservation, and it was this career which brought me to The Lizard in 2002. Living in Cornwall I have rediscovered my passion for photography, inspired by the distinctive landscape, its nature, and its human history.
I use medium and large format cameras, and I prefer traditional black and white techniques as, stripped of colour and without digital manipulation, I feel I can get closer to the essential elements of the image. With such a wealth of subject matter, from ancient standing stones to 19th Century mining ruins, I appreciate the opportunities I have had to explore Cornwall through my photography.
