Tess Tucker
I began to paint over 20 years ago, as an antidote to my job as an inner city probation officer in Germany. Since that time my life has changed in many ways, and my painting has evolved with these changes. For a long time I painted about women, trying to capture their strengths and vulnerabilities. I still do that but less intensely, and have focused more on abstract and figurative landscapes, which are about colour, and distilling what I see to simple lines and shaped.
I now live in Cornwall, and the Languedoc, southern France. These two places have vastly different landscapes, but share many characteristics in their history of mining, fishing, geograhical isolation , and relative poverty. I paint in both places, and they fascinate me equally.
I currently exhibit in Cornwall, with Lizardart at their gallery, and also in Languedoc, at the gallery Vieux Presbytere, in Lunas, Herault. Contact Tess through Lizard Art.
